By Abraham Oloche

I cry silently…
Yes; with no tear-drop.
But a heavy heart,
A tied-tongue.

The rise of anger,
Has kissed its zenith,
And I ask, what kind of
existence am I?
Emotion oppressing ideals,
disrupting my inner peace.

Anger rages within.
Yet refuses to tear me apart;
I mourn mildly
But nobody cares
‘Cause all they see is a smile.

  1. This poem is really deep and emotional. It reminds me of myself, the way I try to hide and suppress my emotion, feigning a smile when I am sad inside. Thank you poet Oloche Abraham.

  2. Beautifully constructed piece of poetry. This is one of the best I’ve read from a Nigerian, I guess.
